The arch
Between Cala Santanyí and Cala Llombards, Es Pontàs stands alone in the sea. Its name means roughly “the great bridge”. Mirador Es Pontàs offers the best view of it.
It’s one of this coast’s best-known sights, reached by a short walk of a few minutes from the road.
There’s no ticket desk, no set opening hours and no railing. Keep back from the edge, particularly with children or in windy conditions.
Timing matters
At midday, the sun sits behind the arch, turning it into a silhouette and filling the water with glare.
In the late afternoon, light falls from the front and reveals the colour of the water beneath it.
On windy days, waves surge through the opening, a particularly striking sight in winter.
