An easier family beach
Cala Santanyí has roughly 100 metres of fine pale sand in a rocky-sided bay near Santanyí. The gently shelving water is a large part of its appeal for families, provided the sea is calm.
The other advantage is access. From the main free parking area, a firm path leads towards the sand without a steep flight of steps. That is much simpler than the approaches to Cala s’Almunia or Caló des Moro.
Hotels and holiday homes surround the bay, so it is a convenient beach setting rather than an undeveloped cove.
The Es Pontàs viewpoint
Around 20 minutes on foot towards Cala Llombards brings you to a view of Es Pontàs, a large rock arch standing in the sea. The approach includes rough, unsurfaced ground, so wear suitable footwear and stay away from exposed edges.
Another nearby walk takes you towards the old coastal watchtower above the bay.

When to visit
May and October are pleasant choices. In July and August, guests from the surrounding accommodation fill the beach, so arrive early if you want a hired parasol or a particular spot.
Between November and March, many seasonal facilities close. Come for the coastal views and a walk rather than relying on a full beach service.
