Weekly markets in Mallorca

81 market listings · by day of the week

Wednesday morning in Sineu: the square belongs to the market rather than traffic.

Vegetables for your holiday apartment or a wander through the market lanes: somewhere in Mallorca, there is a market every day of the week.

Choose a day

Combine a market visit with a walk around town. In Sineu, stalls run through the historic centre; in Sóller, stop for a break on Plaça Constitució after shopping. For a few essentials, the smaller market near your accommodation may be just right.

Local markets sell food alongside clothes and household goods. In the bigger market towns, leave time for the surrounding lanes and cafés. Flea markets and seasonal evening markets have a different emphasis and are marked in the list.

A market with a long history

Sineu and its market charter of 1306

Sineu received a royal market charter in 1306. Today, stalls fill the area around Plaça des Fossar and the lanes in the centre. The market administration lists livestock alongside food, plants and clothing.

These photographs show earlier visits to the livestock market. They do not tell you which animals will be there on your visit. If you would rather skip this area, there are plenty of other market streets to explore.

Before you go

Arrive early

Parking takes longer to find on popular market days. Use marked spaces on the edge of town and allow for a walk. Sineu and Inca are also reachable by train from Palma; check the current timetable.

Check where things come from

A market stall is not automatically a local producer. If you want Mallorcan products, look for origin labels and ask. Alongside fruit and vegetables, you may find olives, sobrassada, almonds and cheese, but not everything comes from the island.

Choosing what to buy

Compare food quality, origin and the price per kilogram. A leather item’s point of sale does not tell you where it was made. If you are looking for something special, ask about the materials and producer.

Bring some cash

Take small notes. Not every stall accepts cards, so ask first if you are making a larger purchase.

In brief

Questions about markets

Which is Mallorca’s best weekly market?

For a market browse combined with a town visit, try Sineu on Wednesday, Inca on Thursday, Sóller on Saturday or Pollença on Sunday. For food, Palma’s outdoor Pere Garau market is also worth considering on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

What time do markets start and finish?

Many weekly markets take place in the morning. Exact hours vary, and evening markets are marked separately. Arriving early usually makes for a more relaxed browse.

Do markets run in winter?

Many local markets run all year. Some in holiday resorts are seasonal, including Cala Millor from March to October. Check the seasonal notes in the list.

Are markets cancelled on public holidays?

A market may move or be cancelled on a public holiday. Rules vary by town, so check council notices before making a long journey.

Can I haggle at Mallorcan markets?

Food is normally sold at the displayed price. Do not assume haggling is expected at other stalls either. If something interests you, ask politely about the price.
