About Mirador de Ricardo Roca

The first major viewpoint on the west-coast road beyond Andratx sits on the Ma-10, before Estellencs, directly above a small road tunnel.

The climb

From the car park, stone steps reach the rocky summit in a few minutes. A small rough-stone building stands at the top, with the hillside dropping away behind.

There isn’t a continuous handrail. With small children, stay by the parapet.

The view

Look straight down into a wooded cove, where turquoise water covers rock shelves, then north along successive headlands towards Banyalbufar.

Practical details

Access is free. The small car park is often full in season. Stopping on the road here is dangerous.

Fifteen minutes is enough for a visit.

When to come

Choose January for the clearest air, or March and October for a good all-round visit.

In high summer, parking fills at midday and haze reduces the distant views.
