Four different parts of the island

Mallorca is not the same everywhere

Pale sand and turquoise sea beside pine trees in Port d’Alcúdia under a blue sky.

North · Alcúdia

Beach time in the bay, then a walk through the old town: make the north a day out in its own right. The weather need not be the same as in Palma.

Artà with Sant Salvador above the town and mountains behind.

East · Artà

Wander through Artà’s lanes, then head to the coast. You can combine town, hills and sea, but remember that Artà itself is not on the beach.

Boats in Port de Sóller’s turquoise harbour, with hillside houses behind.

West · Tramuntana

Heading from the harbour into the mountains changes more than the view. Pack an extra layer and check the mountain forecast before a Tramuntana outing.

South · Playa de Palma

A beach day followed by an evening in Palma: the sea and city are close together here. A room beside the water can feel different at night from one inland.

Sunshine hours: AEMET, Palma-Portopí B228, INSO_1991_2020, arithmetic mean (Md) of daily sunshine duration in hours. Every month covers 30 years. Rounded to whole hours. This is measured sunshine, rather than the entire period between sunrise and sunset.

Sunrise and sunset: calculated by the U.S. Naval Observatory for the first and last day of each month in 2026 at Palma-Portopí (39.554167° N, 2.625278° E). Converted to local Europe/Madrid time, including daylight saving. Arrows connect the start and end of the month, rather than the earliest and latest times within it. Times assume an unobstructed horizon; mountains and buildings can change when the sun becomes visible. These are astronomical times, not long-term averages.

The figures are monthly averages for 1991–2020, not a current forecast. “Daytime” summarises the rounded average daily highs at the two Palma stations; “At night” uses their average daily lows. These are not the range of temperatures you will experience on an individual day. “Sea temperature” shows the rounded range across the four selected sea areas. Warming since 2020 is not fully reflected in these averages.

Air temperature and rainfall · 1991–2020

Even within Palma, conditions vary

In July, the average daily high is 31.6°C at the airport and 29.9°C at the harbour. Average daily lows are 19.0°C and 22.2°C respectively. Location matters, and these two stations do not represent the whole island.
